Musicians today are just as talented as the ones 40 or 50 years ago, we just never get to know them.

Exactly!

That's terrible about that Russian singer. I haven't heard of him.

The electronic music today is so soulless (In my opinion, I'm sure Jac would disagree), not at all like Good Vibrations or The Doors. When we used to listen to The Doors and the girls were younger, we had to turn it off because they thought the music was "too creepy." Lol.

There's so much spectacular music out there by "unknowns" which is far superior to the "big hit makers" of today you hear ad nauseum...it's frustrating and exasperating and sad to contemplate.

Astral Weeks turns 50 this year

Here is the story of the making of Astral Weeks in 1968. His ex wife and then band members recall the dire situation Morrison was going through.

The album did not blow my mind away when I first heard it. I needed time to appreciate it.

I knew Van. Not a nice man to all that made him who he was. Talented? Yes. exceptional? yes. rude, inconsiderate, thoughtless and egocentric... definitely. He had more ugly talent than any human should process towards humans. unfortunately he used that to spew is vile at the raw level of despised.
