I forgot to say your dog is so cute, Martine, saw him prance across your kitchen floor (smiley face). I hope you've recovered from your bug.
"more sinned against than sinning"--shall be on my tombstone "Transpersonal psychology--transcend the self, to abolish and avoid pain...what is the self, anyway?"--Pinkie "Queen of Pain, I'll Always be Queen of Pain" (laughs)with apologies to Sting "Yes it's over now, drink your big black cow, and get outa here"--Steely Dan "I'm just a girl, they think I'm some kind of freak"--Gwen Stefani
This will show how I think when it comes to decorating for me vs. client money.

I moved from an all white kitchen and was spoiled by it.  When I moved they had painted all the walls off white, there was a huge leak that made the bathroom ceiling bubble and it kept me from my moving date.  So I asked if I could bring my handyman in to push it along and they let me, so he peeled the kitchen wallpaper off and did the repairs.

New oven and refrigerator and a little paint!  My Dad took those photographs, they were framed and sitting on his office floor, so he gave them to me.  The chair was $20 and I walked it home from the charity shop.  The glass vases were $2 to $5 in the same charity shop.  I have turquoise glass balls on top of the refrigerator from Pier 1 store.  They are $4 dollars each.  The cookbook on the very bottom was given to me by a gourmet cook and I cherish it.  It's from the 1950's and it's all the old recipes from Europe's finest restaurants.

My favorite thing is the picture of the lady which was a large postcard and I stuck it in a frame. Anything that has orange or turquoise catches my eye.

WOW Brogan!! I love it! What is the name of the cherished cookbook? I have a collection of old household management and cookbooks - not that they've done me any good but I love them! [smile]
Is that the same room???? Brilliant!
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.” Milan Kundera.
LOL. Yep, the same room that is actually a working kitchen by a New Yorker who cooks!

Nicky - here's the book.  I had no idea who wrote it.  And I see it's worth alotta money.

The funny thing is that I met Vincent Price and his wife when I was a teenager.  Not the wife that wrote the cookbook with him.  I just looked it up. Her name was Coral Browne and they were good friends with my best friend's parents.  My friend and I went back to her house and there were her folks and the Price's having dessert and coffee.  (And I think lots of wine too).

I remember he was delightful and that unmistakable voice.  Of course he wasn't "Vincent Price" (though I knew him from House of Wax), he was Egghead from Batman!
