On my way home one day through the week I noticed for the first time that on the other side of a hedge outside my house there is a field.  Never knew it was there.  It's also a very big field.  Surprising still that I'd never noticed there lives in it a herd of black coos (cows for non Scots lol).  How on earth have I lived here for 5 weeks and not noticed any of this?  So on our walk home from dinner last night, we decided to have a closer look at our neighboUrs and introduce ourselves.  The girl, who never misses the chance of a free meal especially when it's eating out, was thrilled to discover our bovine buddies.  Even more thrilling was seeing last night a cute little hedgehog strolling along the back of the garden.  It was certainly a nature day yesterday.  Country life is so different.  Love it.

Cor it looks beautiful there, Duckie, you're lucky and I bet not being in a semi-tropical place, you don't have lots of star wars type bugs in the summers. (?) Mosquitos, at least? Your girl has amazing hair ! She's so pretty

We have midges in the millions that annoy and bite.  There are also a lot of tiny flies that come off the crops and we were in time for them but didn't seem to be affected as much as others.  In fact I didn't notice them at all and didn't know about them until a villager was telling me about them invading her house.  Maybe they prefer to annoy the cows in the adjacent field [wink]

What a great place to live!

I don't think we have hedgehogs around here.  I've never seen one around.

So I just looked it up and they are not around at all and are illegal in some states!
