Hello Everyone,

My Dad passed away at 9:04a.m. on January, 15th, 2018.

I have so much more to say.

First, my dad, Ed, was alive as the mud consumed many homes.

My dad wanted to give Jeff Bridges and Family/Friends/Neighbors a Chicago Pizza Day.  Just a small break.  Let us know.  We will accommodate you.  Just a pizza break..
We will have Chicago Pizza delivered to you.  Just let us know where.  And, how many pizza's you need.  With love to you all, Carol

I'm very sorry to hear about your father, Carol. I imagine your life is quite different now. I hope you and your mother can find comfort with each other.

Thank you again for your offer of pizza for Jeff and his community. That is very generous and kind. Jeff is now making a movie in another country and the survivors of Montecito are rebuilding their lives. I think the population is about 9,000 - a small town where a lot of people know each other. It's very beautiful there and I have heard that the clean up crews are working hard to get things back to some kind of normality. The fire crews were amazing! Especially as they fought fires in the same area in December. What a nasty job, though, going through mud to find bodies. If anyone needs a pizza day I would think it would be them! There were also a lot of inmates who helped with the rescues, getting a dollar a day, apparently. I don't know how that works but they were amazing, too. Jeff would be so touched to know that were offering pizza to his family and friends, Carol - just the offer would put a smile on his face. Perhaps you can eat some pizza in his honor and celebrate the life of your father.

Nicky, Thank you so very much for your reply.  My Mom and I are finding a new normal.  One bright spot.  A caregiver bill- RAISE- was passed on Capitol Hill, and signed into law on January 22, 2018.  It is the first step in ensuring Caregiver's have a voice in the fight against Alzheimer's.   January 22, 2018 was also the same day my dad was cremated.  I know that I did not have a chance to benefit from this new law.  I know that, after some small steps in advocacy, I did contribute to making sure the next generation of caregivers has more resources. And, do not face hunger and homelessness.

I know one day we can have a Chicago Pizza Day.  And, I want to make this happen.  For all CAREGIVERS.  I will continue to work to make pizza day happen.  It would just be such a good day of joy.  One, day, Nicky.

With kind regards,
Carol

Thank you to everyone who has remembered by dad as one of the original Bowling Lanes owners in the United States after the Great Depression.
