Thank you for this, Pinkie.

I have seen the Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand version of this, so I don't think I'll be seeing this one at the theatre (I really never go anyway) but when it comes on DVD I'll see it.

I have heard great things about it, though. I actually think Gaga looks a lot better (from what I've seen of the film) without the platinum blonde hair and all the make-up.

One reason why I'm not busting to see it is it's just such a sad story. But after reading this, I will see it.

I know when Barbra Streisand was doing her first movie, Funny Girl, she thought about getting her nose done (so the legend goes) but was afraid it would change her voice. Good for her.

Michele, ironically, Helen Haggis B. and hubby Mike saw this on the big screen and didn't like it at all ! (Gaga's version) She even wrote that some people walked out on the movie!  The New York Times and other big time critics have all loved the flick. This just goes to show how subjective art and art appreciation are.  Maybe some other boardies will see it and offer their takes on it. I'm curious !

You can hear songs from this movie on YouTube !  Until you get the soundtrack (if you want it)

Nope didn't like this at all. I thought Gaga was awful. She delivered her lines as if reading from the pages of her script and I saw no character at all. Yes people left during the second half of the film and Mike was fidgeting and asked me if I wanted to move on. I said no because, being very familiar with the story, wanted to see how it ended this time. That was very uneventful considering Kris and Babs final scenes in 1976 which always reduces me to tears. This had nothing and even the aftermath was nothing to stir my emotions. I was happy to see the end credits and make a speedy exit.

Bradley was very surprising and did a good job but not sure he's a natural at directing. He should have gotten gaga to do much more than just say the words. And if I hear her say 'it's ok' one more time I'm going to scream that it's most certainly not.

Just want to say that we wanted to see Jeff's latest but it was already off the lists! Why such a short run is beyond me so it's going to have to be a dvd download for that.

I love everybody.  Some I love to be around, some I love to avoid and others I'd love to punch in the face.

It's interesting how opposite we were in reactions to the Cooper/Gaga version...I'm a sucker for it, the songs, the sensitivity, the look of the film, the emotions it evoked in me, etc. I won't mind at all if Cooper and Gaga are Oscar nominated for "the big one;" Variety, the show biz Bible, even said the film might get nominated across the board and win it all ! Can't wait to see what the awards season brings, for this ! I need to discover who and what are getting Oscar buzz besides this. I know Glenn Close is, for "The Wife." I usually don't like it when the same actors win all the prizes repeatedly, like Helen Mirren did for "The Queen," for example, that gets kind of boring. I'd rather see the prizes spread around. Part of me still desires the spectacle and glory of possible ubiquitous victories for this new A Star is Born remake. I enjoyed it a lot.
