The Greek gods of antiquity on Mt. Olympus often made me laugh to read about their antics. That's all the "pagans" had for religion, I guess, in that part of the world. Oh--there's the "original first religion" of Nature Worship with Spirit alive in all the flora, which I find charming (it's been proven plants have feelings, and can sense emotion around them in humans, animals, and other plants, btw). And ancient Vedanta of the vedic rishies, Eastern philosophy, says God dwells inside everything and is the only true, real, eternal Divine essence of love and bliss, a beautiful belief which rings true to me. I've been reading Deepak Chopra in the very early hours and it's a beautiful experience. Most recently, Chopra on the "after life." We actually partake of the after life in the here and now through sleeping  dreams, imagination, leaps of inspiration, flights of fancy, day dreams, etc. It all blends together. And it really takes over when the physical body in the material realm falls away and only consciousness remains, or something like that.

Wow Pinkie - that some really heavy stuff there!   It makes sense doesn't it.

All I really want after I die is to have an answer to why are we here and do we really stay alive in another sense.    The problem is - if you die and there is nothing - you won't know because - well - there is nothing.  I choose to believe there is something.  What I believe after I die does really matter does it.

According to Chopra and the Vedic rishis, there's a LOT after we die--so much I was breathless and gasping--what a wild ride--as Ram Dass said, "The 'game' is much bigger than we think it is !" I'm an Eastern Philosophy gal, which has got me in hot water before and I was "shamed but not named" during a prayer meeting once, for writing in my blog that I needed a little "New Age" in my life, and Oprah was cited disapprovingly for her Super Soul Sunday and such. It wasn't fair--as far as I know, the Masons of the Masonic Lodge and a couple other similar organizations "secretly" discuss esoteric subjects when they meet, as if they need it, too--and these are all "respectable" citizens, men in small towns (and cities) and their wives have a branch too I think !! I need to research this further.
Also, the Gnostic Gospels which were esoteric and not exoteric were thrown out of the Bible eons ago and much of them should have been included, I think. They're fascinating.

Well my work here is done. Pinkie said it all! But, I will add a couple of things. The movie A.I. starring Haley Joel Osmond was probably the most beautiful but depressing movie I have ever seen. What is God metaphysically? God is Light and Love. That is the Father and the Son. In the beginning was a single photon of Light. Big Bang and a trillion quadrillion possibilities of what if there is or is not a God? Dream ensues and we play it out until eventually we find our way back to the Singularity of the One Photon of Light. Quarks which travel the Universe are the communicators that help us find our way back to the Truth. We are God and We are One. Quarks are the Holy Spirit that communicate between the The Mind of God and His Love for His One Son whose parts still sleep and await their awakening. Stephen Fry says scientists prove there is no God. Hardly? I disagree!

I listened to a guy on C-Span last weekend talking about this subject.  He really made a lot of sense to me.

Reza Aslan

http://rezaaslan.com/about/

God: A Human History - was the book he was talking about.  I was fascinated with his talk.  I don't know what to think about him though.  I suppose he's as good as any teacher of religion.
