My old silver Toshiba laptop was stolen, after I was so careless as to leave it in my car one night without locking the car ! So many great pictures and other valuable material is gone. I bought a pretty good HP laptop which has more memory and more power in general, is an upgrade, but it also boasts a few sort of irksome quirks. I'll get used to them. I don't care for some of the features. It's irritating to know even this rather inexpensive device can do so much more than I know how to make it perform. I need a one on one puter teacher, but imagine that would be quite pricey, if I paid an IT puter geek who really knows their stuff. Can't swing it.
I hope your puter woes are solved. __________________ "more sinned against than sinning"--shall be on my tombstone

I'm so sorry to hear about your laptop being stolen, Pinkie! That stinks. Have you tried Adult Ed classes? Sometimes they're pretty great at teaching how to use a full range of computer features and at a good price. A one-on-one IT geek who happens to be handsome and eligible might be a good option, too, though..!

Aghhh!! how annoying ... lesson learned there Susy. Mind you I'm sure its a lesson most of us have had to learn the hard way one time or another. Still I'm sorry to hear it honey. New computers .. oh boy don't get me started.. Same as you there are things my year old laptop can do that I have NO idea of what so ever. I estimate I use about 1 fifth of its offerings. The best people to ask are those under the age of 10 .. lol for some reason kids now days seem to be born with computer knowledge already intact. In fact my 4 (soon to be 5) year old granddaughter knows more about my laptops capabilities that I do! __________________ You know this world is an unjust F**ked up place when they can put a person on the moon but cant invent zero calorie Chocolate

Nicky and Maritne .. Ohh I feel for you both. Ive had similar problems in the past. One being PC world (a very popular chain of electronic selling shops that specialise in computers, laptops etc) They have their own tech department, like a hospital for unwell or broken computer stuff. We got the blue screen of death as Hula quite rightly put it but they kept blaming it on us, something we had done.. We threatened them with contacting watchdog (a TV programme specially for helping and highlighting consumers rights, they will happily name and shame too) That seem to do the trick funnily enough and we got given a new laptop, well a choice of anything up to the same price. I always shop on Amazon for anything like new chargers and things. Unless I have to I will not pay the shop prices, they in my opinion bump up the prices for the same product that you can buy for a fraction of the price online ... Of course one always has to be careful of buying "dodgy" knock off goods but I'm willing to take that chance. __________________ You know this world is an unjust F**ked up place when they can put a person on the moon but cant invent zero calorie Chocolate

My old computer would just shut down without warning because it would overheat. This was a problem common to that model. It was frustrating so one day I just quit using it. I was afraid it would catch on fire. Since then I have been using my son's computer. (It's a nice one that he built at home.) A couple of days ago I got tired of my old computer sitting there taking up space so I plugged it in and started it up. I attached a flash/thumb drive to it and I transferred anything that had importance to me to that drive. It was quick and simple. All I did was put all random pictures into a file and dragged them into the flash drive. I did the same with any files I already had - put them on the flash drive. That is a quick, easy and safe way to back up anything you want. I love flash drives. __________________ And God said "let there be light".
