Interesting question, Hula Girl! My boy and I will be barbecuing tonight and then going out to watch fireworks. It doesn't get dark until late here, so the fireworks start at 10pm... when I'm already half asleep. It'll be fun! Are you celebrating your honorary American citizenship, Hula Girl?

My town celebrates the 4th on the 3rd.  It makes sense.  Get all the fireworks out of the way and then that leaves the morning for the parade, and all the rest of the day you can go watch firework displays at another town.  I stole this picture from facebook but it is of the fireworks here on the 3rd.  I did NOT go outside to watch them.  I live so close that it is earthshaking and earsplitting.  I don't enjoy them anymore.  I don't go to the parade anymore either.  I used to enjoy it when I was younger and the floats were better and Evel Kvievel was in the parade riding around and doing wheelies and whatnot.  Well, Debbie Downer here, signing out.

That is a good one, Nicky. I wanted to add an article to my post written by the VRT correspondent for the USA, but it was in Dutch and I could not find a translation. It was way too long for me to translate. I am in Summer mode, you see. Anyhow, I watched a National Geographic video clip about Erna, an avalanche rescue dog working in Montana.

That article was rather depressing, I must say. Perhaps it is better that I could not post it. It comforts me that some of you perhaps had the opportunity to go bowling or to do the usual.
