I haven't gotten my bread machine out in years. I also have a deep fryer that I haven't used in years. The supermarket has such great bread. . . it's so much easier.

Here's a little trick to make your store-bought loaf seem like it came right out of the over:

Wet it a little, not drenched, just run wet hands over it so it's dampish. This is with a full unsliced loaf, like an Italian loaf or a French loaf. Then put it in the over at 400 or so, until the outside is baked. The bread is soft and warm and moist, like homemade. Great with soup or whatever.

(Cheat cheat! I know!

I've been banned from getting another bread machine.  I made bread almost daily and over the years burned out 3 or 4 machines because of constant almost non stop use.  They are very expensive here but as we don't eat as much bread as we used to, it's not worth it I suppose.  But I do miss the aroma of freshly baking bread.  As a consolation, I have gingerbread scented candles that are sold in a shop here for Christmas so stock up for an all year round supply.  I wonder why baked bread smells are not in candles.  I mean Yankee Candle do fluffy towels even, so why not bread.  That would be wonderful.

I like pistolets with good butter. Really. A tiger pistolet with butter. Really, really.

This is what we call pistolets. I do not know any other decent word to describe this type of food. A good pistolet has a crispy crust. Traditionally people eat pistolets on Sunday morning. And its the males who have to get out of bed to go and get them.
