I promised hubby I'd not do it, but I've gone and done it. Wee jaunt to Vienna next year! OK, it's only for a couple of days but he's almost forgiven me and coming around to the idea lol Meanwhile we're off to Malta (St.Pauls Bay) the week after next, so looking forward to that. It's so cold here just now I'm actually looking forward to a bit of warmth. It should be high 60's low 70's there when we visit. We are having beautiful clear blue sky days here, as we do, but boy the temperature has dropped dramatically. It's icy air which gets right to the bone. I'm absolutely astounded by all these allegations that are coming out, especially Kevin Spacey. I'm not defending nor accusing but how does this happen that not a word is said about anything or anyone then everyone is being accused of everything? Even Mariah Carrey has been named by an ex employee. I know a whole load of awful things happen but on such a scale I do wonder if some are just jumping the bandwagon. People do do that, which is just as bad as the accusation in my eyes. And those accusations are horrific! I'm really not sure how to react when another story emerges but how is it even possible to get away with such behaviour for that long? One person doing this for decades is bad but to find out it's way more than that for longer is unbelievable yet it seems we must prepare ourselves for the reality. How is everyone coping with Christmas preparations? My Christmas shopping is late this year. I'm usually pretty much done by now but I'm way behind. Not even got my card list written up yet and they are usually bought signed and posted by 1st December but done by now waiting to go. Will have to get myself organised. Hope I have time to get the tree done lol I do like my tree going up, even better when I take it down again. Two weeks before Christmas is my limit and it's usually down before New Year. But the way it's going this year, I might not be doing Christmas until February sometime lol I've never had a mad rush Christmas yet, so this could be a first. No big presents to buy this year. The girl, who is now 20, is getting the adult treatment. Nothing elaborate. She was so wanting to be an adult, but will happily renounce it for Christmas and get a super present from Santa. She realises it's not all that great being grown up at this time of year lol Wait till she has the expense of it all from presents to dinner and everything in between. I owe PMs. Please be patient I'm worse than I ever used to be but I will get there. You know who you are OK, that's me updated a bit and now I'm off to get hubby's tea on the go. What's cooking in you kitchens? I'm doing him battered haddock and chips (fries to most of you lot lol). It is Friday but he's been so good with his new diet I'm giving him a treat. So I'm off to get my batter together and fed the grump. Have a spiffing weekend peeps and I'll hopefully be back sooner than usual. __________________ Haggiebaby I love everybody. You guys really get around, Helen, and we enjoy seeing your travel photos which are always striking, often stunning ! Would love seeing some scenic views from Scotland too which boasts a lot of breathtaking scenery, judging by various pix I've seen, and in movies. You're lucky duckies to live there.
As for the badly misbehaving men, it's a real trip what's going on and probably just the tip of the iceberg, felt especially disillusioned reading about Dustin Hoffman. And a bit, about Richard Dreyfess and George Takei. As for Louis C.K., really not surprised at all. No wonder Woody Allen wanted him in to be in "Blue Jasmine," and astounding when Allen actually seemed to take up for Harvey Weinstein ! Made it seem like pervs stick together, birds of a feather, etc. and all that. So icky.I BTW I recall reading Sean Connery's suggestion to Carly Simon and her sister Lucy that the three make a "sandwich" something sordid like that, a threesome, when he met them on a long ago cross sea voyage, was in Carly's autobiography. The sisters were quite young but legal. They didn't take him up on it (but Lucy spent the night with him a couple days afterwards, sneaked out to meet him while Carly was sleeping!). I still love your fellow countryman Sean. But some of those horny toads...even Warren Beatty, ugh. But I'm sure most of the ladies Beatty came on to wanted to have a fling w/ him back then. Or some, at least. He was so promiscuous. In the Golden Age of Classic Hollywood those movie moguls and producers and actors and such seem to have been driven half-mad with lust by proximity to all those beautiful Hollywood female stars and starlets, and some of the former were able to control themselves and behave while others took advantage of having power with the notorious casting couch and whatnot. And it's been going on ever since. I kept some of my Christmas decorations up year-round this time, LOL, the fancy sparkling stuff draped on the living room fireplace mantel, but the exterior of the house will look like Jehovah's Witnesses, they don't observe Christmas, it will remain plain. I joked to my sis I'll dress up like Santa and stand outside. It feels like Christmas of last year happened just yesterday. It comes around again fast. __________________ "more sinned against than sinning"--shall be on my tombstone

Vienna! Nice. My goodness, you are such a traveler, Hag.
Have a great time in Malta. Watch the sun, though. We have no travel plans for the next while, but I am very happy at home. I hate to leave here, and my animals . . . but maybe in the new year. Would love to go to Scotland. Did I tell you this girl I know just came back from Scotland and Ireland and England and LOVED Scotland the most? She said it was so beautiful. So I second what Pinkie said, pics of Scotland and the Highlands would be lovely. Christmas. Well, today we got my Christmas/Birthday gift - my computer crashed and has been giving me problems, (7 years old) so I got me a new beautiful 27inch mac. I have bought one gift for Lisa - Game of Thrones 1-5 in Hardcover, which she wanted. Other than that, I wait until Black Friday and afterward, when everything's on sale (I hope). Kevin Spacey - I know! I could not believe it, I can't watch him anymore. There was a finished movie that wasn't released yet, and they are replacing all his parts with Christopher Plumber. I don't think it's very good to be Kevin Spacy right now. What's cooking . . . Lisa is now a vegetarian (she has been having stomach issues - long story) but I've been making all kinds of things. She cooks too, and she makes awesome soups. I made Eggplant Parmesan, and it was really good (if I do say so myself, lol). I'd never had it before, so I was pleased. Love Fish & Chips - there's a great place here for F & C. Halibut really expensive, though.

I know, Pinkie! Richard Dreyfuss's son is telling about how Kevin Spacey was so inappropriate with him, while Richard Dreyfuss was sitting right there, reading a script. Meanwhile, Richard Dreyfuss has got his own issues! And George T. Ugh. Woody Allen is creepy, and I can't watch his movies. Ever since he took off with his step-daughter, I can't stand to see his movies. I wonder how many others are terrified, biting their nails down to the quick as they wonder when the bomb will be dropped on them. . .

Christmas preparations???? I will wait as long as possible.
This Hollywood situation has consequences here too. VRT (the Flemish BBC) has fired some TV guy because of complaints about his inappropriate behavior. They cut all his productions too. It is a bit similar to Kevin Spacey's case. I always considered Spacey a good actor and enjoyed watching him. That has changed now. Weinstein appeared to be the tip of a huge iceberg. Worldwide people are coming forward with their harassment experiences now. BTW, have fun in Vienna and Malta! __________________ “Dogs are our link to paradise.
