Good luck, Jack! Does he like it?

I have had a couple of rough, hard nights too. The family doctor quit his job because he has kidney cancer. The news hit me like a bomb. He is in his fifties, and we got along very well. It is so unfair. Why him?

That's very sad and tragic, Martine. I hope he beats it.

I'm sorry to hear about your doctor, too, Martine! It's always especially hard to hear that kind of news when it is someone close to our own age, isn't it? I also hope you get a new doctor who you like as much and that your current doctor heals.

Jack is enjoying middle school, so far. He still doesn't like getting up in the morning and leaving for the day, but I think it's more interesting for him than elementary school was. He's making a movie in his tech class which, for him, is heaven.

Yeah, it is true. He is 56. A couple of his colleagues think he will start working again anyhow. They think his decision to stop was taken in the emotional turmoil following the diagnosis. I should not get attached to doctors. There is a doctor shortage here. Most of them are 50+ and many do not accept new patients. Young doctors are often more businesslike, they do not see patients as persons, as individuals. They do not waste time talking to people.

So, what is Jack's movie about? Can we come to the premiere? Or watch the movie somewhere? Would be fun!
