If you're there, we need you. We need you to help save The Dude, the three decade old statue that has inspired the guerilla campaign that has created Dude Chilling Park in Vancouver.

Featured on Jimmy Kimmel... here is the history of our beloved park:

Guerrilla artiste Viktor Briestensky installed the original Dude Chilling Park sign:

On November 2012, the prank sign was created by local artist Viktor Briestensky as a light-hearted reference to Reclining Figure, a public art piece by Michael Dennis installed in Guelph Park in 1991.

The Vancouver Park Board took down the sign, and public unrest followed.

“In the year after it was removed, over 1,800 people signed an online petition requesting that Vancouver actually rename the park itself, and Sharma says that the vast majority of residents who the Park Board spoke with supported bringing back the sign.”

Politicians relented, and the sign was officially re-installed.

Now Dude Chilling Park is world famous and the term is one of the most searched for phrases on Google in relation to Canada. The Dude Chilling Park sign is located in the southwest corner of the park and is routinely stolen (seriously, why doesn’t the Park Board use an anti-theft nut?).

The Reclining Figure, the original Dude is.... I'm not going to sugar coat this.... dying. We are in the midst of the biggest campaign in Canada's history, to have the original Dude bronzed. You can read about it in the news.

We need the Dude, and the Dude's followers, to help save The Dude. Please, help us save the Dude.

This is so cool! I live near Vancouver and will definitely visit next time I'm there. Any photos of the Reclining Figure available?

Yes! Lots. This art piece, "The Relaxing Figure" was installed years ago.

Which gave rise to the nickname "Dude Chilling Park".

A guerrilla artist made a replica-official-city-park-sign called, "Dude Chilling Park", and plunked it in the corner of the park. Officials removed it.

There was outrage and a public petition forced the City to bring the sign back.

The City of Vancouver made it official and installed a "Dude Chilling Park" sign:

The park has a 4.4-star review on Google. See why it's so great at or follow the park on Twitter.
