While posting about fish, I thought of Dr. Seuss. You know, one fish, two fish.

So I was wondering, what is your favorite Dr. Seuss book? I used to love Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat In The Hat, and The Cat In The Hat comes back. Those were the ones I loved growing up.

But reading them to my own girls, I loved The Lorax the most. I used to read to them every night, and often it was Dr. Seuss.  Oh, and of course, The Grinch. Such a classic.

I remember when we were in San Fransisco, they had an art gallery with original Dr. Seuss prints, which were pretty amazing.

So, what's your favorite Seuss book?

Hmmm... Jack used to love the Wacky Wednesday one but I found it stressful. I think I liked One Fish, Two Fish when I was little... but most of them I found very stressful. Delicate little flower I was! Now I think he was clever but as a kid, too scary and chaotic.

I still have the book you sent the girl one Christmas and I used to like reading her from it.  It's packed away now for safe keeping but she did enjoy it.  I must get it out and give it another go.  Cat in the Hat is obvious I suppose but I like The Grinch and Green Eggs and Ham.  I think too that they can maybe be on the scary side for kids, but like some Disney films, some things are way above their heads with adult humour that kids just don't register.

I learned to read with One Fish Two Fish, and when I lived in Tumwater, Washington I read the Lorax out loud to the neighborhood children and my daughters while standing on a tree stump of a tree that had recently been cut down. Management was planning to cut more. My kids have referred to me as the crazy tree lady on more than one occasion, and I do contribute to the Arbor Day Foundation every year. So...yeah the Lorax has to be my favorite. Ohio vs. Washington ....huge difference in trees!

Do any of you know the one called Fox in Socks?  That was actually the one I liked to read out loud the most.  It's a tongue twister and so much fun!  Unless you are a delicate flower like our darling Nicki. [wink] That might cause a nervous breakdown if you read it too fast!  I love it!
